What material do you want your sex toys to be made of?
Vinyl - Softer vinyl - Plastic - Latex - Silicone - Acrylic - Stainless steel or aluminium
Other things to consider are the material your sex toys are made from, the traditional plastic, vinyl or latex dildos, or maybe a new material that will last longer as well as having other benefits, ( which I will cover later ) such as silicone, acrylic or stainless steel dildos.
Latex and Jelly dildos and vibrators
Two relatively new materials in the manufacture of sex toys, Latex and Jelly ( a composite ) they bring with them new and improved features. Both materials are soft and extremely flexible, new colours are being introduced, you can now get a vibrant purple vibrator, or a shocking pink glitter dildo in a translucent or transparent see through finish, you can even get a pearlescent shine vibrator.
These new materials have also seen the introduction of the "real feel" and "magic skin" sex toy range, which you really do have to feel to believe, they are spookily life like, and extremely comfortable. However as the material is softer it will need gentle handling just like the real thing, and again really does need to be kept clean.
Vinyl and Plastic
Traditionally sex toys have been made from plastic and more recently vinyl. The plastic vibrators are hard non flexible sex toys, which some people may find an appealing feature if they are looking for a toy to use for penetration. Plastic has two advantages, one plastic sex toys are usually cheap, so you can afford to buy them, and throw them away regularly, two, they have a durable surface that is easy to wipe over with alcohol for cleaning.
Vinyl is a softer material that still has a certain desirable firmness, this allows it to be moulded to produce a whole range of interesting shapes, as can be seen in some of the realistic sex toys that pay close attention to detail. Vinyl is still relatively cheap, and the new softer vinyl, as used by Little Softee Vibrator allow for a whole range of exciting shapes and colours it is also flexible giving you much greater comfort. The latest development in vinyl has seen the addition of a delicate fragrance to the vinyl during the manufacturing process, one such toy is the squirmy rabbit.
However vinyl can be a breeding ground for infections such as bacteria, and yeast so needs to be kept very clean. Cleaning is dictated by how you use your toy, information on keeping your toy clean can be found on the how to clean your sex toy page.
Silicone
Silicone is a wonderful material, and by many it is said to be the Rolls Royce of sex toys materials. It has amazing properties that allows the mixing of colours to produce swirls and swathes of colour as can be seen in the Tantus range and the Fun Factors products. Silicone can conduct and hold heat, so you can enjoy your toy at what every temperature you prefer, Hot Hot, or if you like things to the other extreme, place your toy in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before playtime. Silicone is an amazingly good conductor of vibrations, and many of the dildo's have a hollowed base to allow the insertion of a bullet or egg style vibrator. Lastly Silicone is amazingly hygienic and easy to clean, you can boil it or even put it in the dishwasher!
One word of caution, never use a silicone based lubricant with your silicone toy, it can cause a chemical reaction that will ruin your toy. Also protect your toy from damage that may be inflicted by teeth, human, zippers or pet! The only real draw back to purchasing one of these toys is the price, which you will find to be in a slightly higher bracket than other toys, but very much worth it if you can afford it, and the delivery time may be a little longer as these are individually crafted works of art and not mass produced, definitely worth every penny and every minute of your wait.
Acrylic - Stainless steel or Glass
And finally alternative materials, you will find that a new generation of artists are turning their creative abilities to the world of sensual and erotic art. Their products are both as beautiful as they are functional, the best illustration of this has to be the range of acrylic crystal wands, you could display one of these delightful toys in your living room as a work of art, and only a fellow sex toy connoisseur would know what it's intended purpose is.
These materials are used to produce heirloom premium quality toys, which are both sensual, functional and beautiful. They are as easy to keep clean as silicone toys, and possess the same heat conducting properties, and as with silicone the only real draw back to purchasing one of these toys is the price, which you will find to be in a higher bracket than other toys, but very much worth it if you can afford it, and the delivery time may be a little longer as these are individually crafted works of art and not mass produced. We are currently testing these products and we will have the best ones available very soon, the first range to pass qualiy testing is the Erotic Glass dildos, these are smooth non porous so offer less friction, they are sensational to use and look fantastic.
